The bible says that the enemy comes only to steal to kill and to destroy but Jesus came so that you would have life and have it more abundantly. The enemy's plan is to destroy you. He is constantly thinking of ways that he would bring you down.
How does he do this? He throws in different thoughts into your mind.
1. It could be fear. What is that thing that you are scared of. Fear is not of God. The bible says that God has not given us the spirit of fear but of love,of power and of a sound mind. You are not a child of fear, you are a child of God. You have to understand that you have power inside of you. It is the power of God. Jesus said that he gives you power to tread upon serpents and scorpions. He has made to stand far above all the power of the enemy. So,you are not your fears. Rather,you are only who God has called you to be, a child of God. You are born to be victorious and not timid. He calls you His own.
2. It could be insecurity. A man can suffer from insecurity when he does not meet up to the expectation that his soul desires. When you are insecure, you do not see your capabilities, you only see your failures and inabilities. Like it was mentioned earlier, God is living on the inside of you and that means that he has given you all that it takes to live a life of boldness. A Christian is bold when he is dependent on God alone. You can live above your fears and worries. You can live above what people say about you. What people say about you is not who you are, rather,what God says about you is who you actually are. It is very important that you see yourself the way that God sees and not the way others see you. Men's words can change. Men's words are not consistent and constant but the word of God lasts forever. The word of God is surety. The word of God is what lifts up. God's word is light to our souls. So whatever you feel right now is, that is negative is not part of God's plan for you.
3. The enemy also tries to get a seat at your table through anxiety. The bible says that you should cast your cares upon the Lord because He cares for you. God cares about everything that you do. He cares about the littlest of matters. God does not just want you to do things all by yourself. He wants you to go all for him. That means that in all that you do, he wants you to put him first. Anxiety means that you put your trust in yourself. The bible says that you should trust the Lord with all your heart. With all your soul and with all of your might. That means that with everything that is within you, you pour out everything. When you learn to trust the Lord, you will see God working in your heart, in your mind and in your soul. He is always there to help in times of trouble. He will never leave neither will he forsake you. God is always ready to guide you no matter what happens. He is always there, he is always on the look out for you because he is your Father. When God comes to you, he takes away every form of darkness.
4. Another way that the enemy tries to take a hold of you is through temptation. The enemy comes to tempt us. There is no one that is immune to temptation. There is no one that is not faced with one trial or another. What the enemy does is that he gives you something that is contrary to God's word. He twists God's words to make it look different. But deep down, is something that is subtle. An example was when he tempted Eve. He said that they will not surely die when they eat the fruit when God had said that they will surely die. You will never know the extent to which a temptation can go. It will come little before it spreads like wildfire. So one must be very cautious to not allow the enemy to have a foothold. How does one fight temptation? You fight temptation with the word. The bible says that Jesus fought the devil with the word. That means that the enemy will bring legitimate excuses to do that which you ought not to do. He will make it look very nice but in the end, it is destruction.
